Uncertainties in the Seismic Assessment of Historical Masonry Buildings

Seismic assessments of historical masonry buildings are affected by several sources epistemic uncertainty. These mainly the material and modelling parameters displacement capacity elements. Additional uncertainty lie in non-linear connections, such as wall-to-wall floor-to-wall connections. Latin Hypercube Sampling was performed to create 400 sets 11 parameters. The proposed approach is applied stone with timber floors, which modelled an equivalent frame using a newly developed macroelement accounting for both in-plane out-of-plane failure. Each building first behaviour enabled then disabled rigid For each model set parameters, incremental dynamic analyses until failure seismic fragility curves derived. key influencing performance determined based on peak ground acceleration at failure, type location. This study finds that predicted PGA mode location sensitive properties connections indicating must account this accurately assess modes buildings. It also shows produces significant impact curves.
